AIMIM demands expulsion of BJP's Raja Singh from Telangana Assembly over remarks on Prophet; says 'Muslims hurt'

In a letter to the Assembly Speaker, AIMIM MLA and general secretary Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri stated that Raja Singh has repeatedly conducted himself in a manner that is unbecoming of a member of the Assembly.
Hyderabad: The AIMIM party on Wednesday wrote a letter to the Speaker of the Telangana Legislative Assembly, demanding the expulsion of BJP MLA Raja Singh over his alleged objectionable remarks against Prophet Muhammad.
The letter has been written by AIMIM MLA and general secretary Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri to Speaker PS Reddy.
In the letter, Quadri stated that Raja Singh has repeatedly conducted himself in a manner that is unbecoming of a member of the Assembly. "His utterances inside and outside the House have resulted in diminishing the dignity of the Legislative Assembly. His conduct has breached this House's privileges, resulting in collective contempt," the AIMIM letter stated.
Quadri stated that Raja Singh's remarks against Prophet Muhammad have caused "immense hurt" to the sentiments of Muslims across the country. He added that the BJP MLA has repeatedly incited violence and promoted enmity, hatred and ill-will against Muslims.
All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief Asaduddin Owaisi said Raja Singh’s conduct is unbecoming of an elected representative.
“On behalf of the party, our MLA and general secretary Ahmed Pasha Quadri wrote to Telangana Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy that expulsion proceedings be initiated against Raja Singh. His attitude is unbecoming of an MLA,” Owaisi said.

Raja Singh: Arrest, and then bail

It may be noted here that Raja Singh was arrested by the police yesterday and produced before a court, which granted the BJP leader bail. However, the party suspended Raja Singh and asked him to explain why he should not be expelled from the party.
“The court issued his release order yesterday. We expect the state government and police administration to rectify this. There are serious allegations against him and he had issued a video. He should be sent to jail once again. This is our main demand,” the AIMIM chief said.
“He should be sent to police custody and his voice sample should be collected and sent to FSL so that a legally strong case is made against him. This should be the last time that he speaks nonsense like this,” he added.
Owaisi had yesterday alleged that Raja Singh’s alleged remarks on Prophet Muhammad were a deliberate attempt by the BJP to destroy the country's social fabric.
Raja Singh was picked up by the Hyderabad Police for making an alleged blasphemous remark against Prophet Muhammad.
An FIR was registered by the Hyderabad South Zone Police against the BJP leader at the Dabeerpura Police Station under Sections 153A, 295 and 505 of the Indian Penal Code.
Hyderabad had witnessed protests on Monday after the Goshamahal MLA released a video in which he purportedly made the remarks.
Just days ago, on August 19, Raja Singh was placed under house arrest following his opposition to a show of stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui in Hyderabad on August 20.
