Agra: A teenager sold off his bicycle for Rs 400 and travelled to Agra with three friends to see the Taj Mahal without telling their parents because their desire to see it was so great.
One of the teenagers, Sawan, sold his bicycle to fund the trip on the advice of his friend Deepak. Along with their two other friends, Abhay and Kishan, the two departed for Agra with the money, news agency IANS reported.
The boys took an auto from the Agra train station but were unable to pay for the monument tickets. They worked at a hotel outside the station for Rs 300 as they ran out of money.
After filing a complaint at the police station, the parents of the missing teenagers blocked the highway without knowing their children's plans.
BP Jogdand, the commissioner of the Kanpur Police, visited the protest site and gave the parents assurances of prompt action.
Later, the boys took a train back to Kanpur without tickets, but they chose not to go to their homes out of concern for their parents' reactions.
