Karnataka: Schoolgirls kidnapped in car, sexually assaulted; two accused held

Kolar: Two youngsters were arrested for the alleged kidnap and sexual assault of two school girls from a village in Mulbagal taluk of Karnataka's Kolar.
According to reports, the two accused -- identified as Subramani (19) and Maniraju (21) -- kidnapped two minor girls who were returning home from school. The girls were going back with three other friends after classes ended on Monday when they were abducted by the accused.
After taking the bus to their village, two of the girls felt tired while walking. Although they were not far from their homes, they decided to rest for some time on the roadside, the Times of India (TOI) said in a report. It was then the accused duo reached the spot in a car and kidnapped the girls. The students were pushed into the vehicle forcefully before it sped away, the newspaper said.
The three other students of the group who witnessed the crime quickly informed the father of one of the kidnapped girls. The police arrived on the scene and began an investigation later the day after the man registered a complaint.
However, the girls were found only on Tuesday morning from the neighbouring village. The two young men were arrested after the girls told the police that they were sexually assaulted.
Earlier this month, minor girl was allegedly raped by six men for two days in the Nagaon district of Assam.
The girl, while speaking to reporters at the hospital said she was kidnapped by a gang while awaiting an e-rickshaw to return home after classes.
"They took me to an unidentified place in a vehicle and tied my mouth, hands and legs. A total of six persons confined me for two days and raped me repeatedly," the schoolgirl had said.
