Assam: cops recover huge cache of narcotics in Nagaon ; 2 drug peddlers held

Assam: In a major drug haul, the Assam Police recovered huge quantities of narcotics. The raid was conducted in the Nagaon district. The team during the raid arrested two accused with huge quantities of narcotics. According to police, the narcotics seized are worth Rs. 15 crores.
During the first raid, on June 26 night, the police seized 1,360 bottles of codeine phosphate cough syrup packed in 13 cartons and a total of 5,328 spasmo plus tablets packed in 37 packets. The police arrested a drug dealer named Baharul Islam and seized a two-wheeler.
Meanwhile, during the second raid, the police raided the house of another accused and seized a huge quantity of narcotics, which included 92,320 tramadol tablets, 12.54 lakh alprazolam tablets and 14,840 bottles of codeine phosphate cough syrup from his possession.
Notably, the cops also confiscated a car with the Ministry of Home Affairs, TSI passes and a VIP parking sticker from the possession of the accused, India Today reported. The police team are currently investigating to find out how the accused got the Ministry of Home Affairs and other car passes.
Recently, in May 2022, a huge quantity of Narcotics substances including addictive tablets and Cough syrups, belonging to drugs peddlers was seized from Dhubri Railway Station.
The team had apprehended one suspected person just after the Demo express reached Dhubri Railway Station and recovered a huge quantity of addictive banned substances from his possession. The accused, identified as Ratul Hussain, had brought the banned addictive substances from the neighbouring state of West Bengal.
