On Wednesday night, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman hinted at a Deadpool 3 update. The actors then went on to describe how the future Deadpool movie will develop, given that Hugh Jackman's Wolverine had passed away in the 2017 movie Logan.
Naturally, Reynolds isn't the kind of person who will give a straightforward response. In a new video they both posted, they sat down together and acknowledge the numerous questions their fans would have. “Logan takes place in 2029, totally separate thing, not touching that…” They continue by explaining the premise of their movie, but when music begins to play and they begin gesturing erratically, we are left in the dark regarding the specifics of the narrative. Well, one could really expect such twists from these two.
In the video's captions, Ryan Reynolds says, “Quick explainer video that tackles… 1) Timeline questions 2) Logan canon 3) MCU FAQ 4) Whether we can do this all day or not.”
Fans believed that Hugh Jackman had ended his tenure as Wolverine in 2017 and that they would never see him again. In fact, Logan's life had ended with his murder and burial.
The release date of Deadpool 3 has been set for September 6, 2024. Shawn Levy, who collaborated with Ryan Reynolds on The Adam Project and with Hugh Jackman on Real Steel, will helm the movie. Reynolds and Jackman will also make their MCU debuts in this film, though it's likely that Wolverine will be replaced in the future.
