Rs 65 lakh worth of liquor mafia properties attached in Azamgarh five months after 13 died of hooch consumption

In the case of illicit spurious liquor earlier this year, action has been taken against 13 accused under the Gangster Act, police said. At the same time, action under NSA (National Security Act) has been taken against the six accused. Along with this, six accused have also been declared as liquor mafia.

Azamgarh: The local administration has attached property worth 67 lakhs of liquor mafia Rangesh Yadav in Uttar Pradesh’s Azamgarh district. Rangeesh Yadav is an accused in the spurious liquor scandal. As per Dainik Bhaskar, District Magistrate Vishal Bhardwaj had given instructions to attach his property on July 29, after which action was taken against him on Wednesday.
On February 21 earlier this year, more than 13 people died due to drinking spurious liquor, in Mahul of Ahirula police station area of Azamgarh. While more than 60 people were ill.
The place from where the liquor was sold, reportedly belonged to Rangesh Yadav, nephew of Samajwadi Party MLA Ramakant Yadav. In this case, the district police took action against all the accused involved in the incident. The investigation of the case is still going on.

According to a police officer, the value of the attached land is more than 2.5 crore rupees presently.
In this case, the police has already attached property worth more than 75 lakhs of Khan brothers. These liquor mafia include Rangeesh Yadav, Mohammad Nadeem, Mohammad Faheem, Kalim, Mohammad Naeem and Salim.
Police said strict action will be taken against other names that will come forward in this discussion. The properties which have been attached by the district administration were built with illegal earnings.
