New Delhi: Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a condition where your kidneys can’t filter the toxic substances and excess liquids from the blood. This leads to waste products and fluids getting accumulated in the blood which might turn out to be fatal. Chronic Kidney Disease cannot be cured but it can however be managed with a proper diet and a few changes in your lifestyle.

However, since it is an important nutrient, one must include it in small amounts and not absolutely remove it from the diet.
Take a look at the food that patients with CKD should avoid.
  1. Avocados and Bananas: These fruits have high potassium in them and since the body isn’t very healthy to process the potassium, it is best to avoid this avoid these fruits.
  2. Dry Fruits: Dry fruits contain higher amounts of potassium than fresh fruits and it is best that one removes these from their diet when suffering from CKD.
  3. Processed Meat: Processed meats have higher levels of preservatives in them along with salts which might not be a very healthy option for people suffering from kidney diseases.
  4. Dairy Products: These are a rich source of vital nutrients and vitamins but then these also contain potassium and phosphorus which is again unhealthy for kidney patients and hence, should be avoided.
  5. Oranges: Though it is a great source of Vitamin C, oranges also contain potassium which isn’t good for CKD patients. Kidney patients need to stop adding oranges as well as its juice to their diet to prevent further damage of the kidneys.
