The incident reportedly took place in Chatarpura village of the district, police said on Friday. The accused has been identified as 60-year-old Munna Saharia. He is the cousin brother of the deceased girl's grandfather.
"The girl had refused to bring the tobacco from a nearby shop despite repeated request by the accused. Her refusal angered the accused and he hit her on the head with an axe," a report in Times of India quoted SP Pankaj Shrivastava as saying.
