Fans of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah would be disappointed! Asit Kumar Modi, the show's producer, has stated that Disha Vakani, who played Dayaben in TMKOC, will not be returning to her role on the show. Disha will be replaced with a fresh face, which will be introduced in the show soon.

Disha Vakani aka Dayaben was expected to return to the show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC) shortly, especially after a new promo hinted at her homecoming. But finally, producer Asit Modi has cleared the air.
Asit said, "Dayaben, the character, is all set to return but it's not Disha Vakani. Auditions for Disha's replacement are on and there will be a new actress coming in as Dayaben soon."
Disha stepped down from the show five years ago. So, why did it take so long for the producers to bring in a replacement? In an interview with ETimes, the TMKOC producer said that Disha was afraid to return to shooting owing to the coronavirus outbreak. He went on to say that she never left the show, but she took a long time to determine whether or not to return.
Asit added, "The reason why it took us so long to replace Disha is that after getting married, Disha did work for some time. She then took a break and had a baby and continued her break to raise her child. She never quit the show. Humko umeed thi ki Disha will return."
According to Asit, Disha has a longstanding experience with the show and she is friendly with the entire crew. Her return was always something they were looking forward to. She has not yet submitted her papers because it is not required in her case.
Asit confirmed that the search for a new Dayaben is in full swing, and they will announce the actor soon. The new character on the show will be introduced to the audience. They will keep the audience informed.
When it comes to Disha Vakani, her portrayal of Dayaben garnered her a lot of fans. She was cast in the major role alongside Dilip Joshi, who plays Jethalal in the drama. Shailesh Lodha left the show just a few days ago. According to reports, Munmun Dutta, may also leave the show. However, all of the rumours, were debunked by the actress.
