Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to remember late singing maestro Lata Mangeshkar on her birth anniversary. The legendary singer, who enthralled listeners with her magical voice for decades, left for her heavenly abode on February 6, 2022.
In his post for the late Lata Mangeshkar, PM Modi recalled his innumerable interactions with the singing icon. He also mentioned that as a tribute to the renowned music artist, a chowk in Ayodhaya will be named after her on the occasion of her birth anniversary.
“Remembering Lata Didi on her birth anniversary. There is so much that I recall…the innumerable interactions in which she would shower so much affection. I am glad that today, a Chowk in Ayodhya will be named after her. It is a fitting tribute to one of the greatest Indian icons,” the Prime Minister’s tweet read.

Born on September 28, 1929, Lata Mangeshkar began her illustrious musical career in 1942 at the age of 13. In a career spanning over seven decades, the melody queen recorded songs for over a thousand Hindi films and in over 36 regional Indian and foreign languages.
The Bharat Ratna awardee departed for her heavenly abode on February 6, 2022, and left the entire country in a state of grief. The legendary singer, who touched millions of hearts during her nearly eight-decade-long career, passed away at the age of 92. She breathed her last at Mumbai's Breach Candy hospital where she was undergoing treatment for COVID-19 and pneumonia.
The void left behind by Lata Mangeshkar in the Indian music industry can never be filled. Her evergreen songs will be cherished by her millions of admirers for ages.
