Mansa: Father of Lawrence Bishnoi went to the Supreme Court on Monday and complained that his son was not receiving any legal assistance in Punjab's Mansa. Bishnoi is the main suspect in the murder case of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala.
Bishnoi's father has also opposed the Punjab transit remand. Since the murder occurred in Mansa, the Punjab Police should look into the matter, according to a vacation bench comprising Justices Suryakant and P B Pardiawala.
Advocate Sangram Singh brought up the argument and stated that no one from the Bar Association was representing Bishnoi.
According to a report by India Today, the vacation bench said, "We have already said the Bar cannot say no to any criminal case. You should approach the high court there and seek legal redressal."
The lawyer of Lawrence Bishnoi's father said that furthermore, "we are contesting a transit remand order." The bench then asked, "Why can't he be proceeded with in Punjab?"
The bench also asked, "Why would the hearing be in Delhi while the murder occurred in Mansa?"
When the Supreme Court reopens after the holidays on July 11, the bench has agreed to hear the matter. Bishnoi, who was transferred from Tihar prison to Mansa on transit detention on June 15, will next appear in court on June 27.
