Flood brings crocodiles to Ghaziabad district after barrage gates are opened

Ghaziabad: Five lakh cusecs of water was released from the Hathnikund barrage in Yamunanagar, Haryana and now its effect is being seen in the Yamuna Khadar area of Delhi and Ghaziabad. Khadar fields have been submerged in flood waters. At the same time, crocodiles have also come in with the water of this flood, reported Dainik Bhaskar.

The Yamuna River is flowing from outside Pachaira village of Loni area in Ghaziabad after dam gates were opened. Villagers said that for the last two days many crocodiles are being seen in the water of the river. Some villagers have also made videos of these crocodiles.
In one such video, a giant crocodile is sitting on a mud island built in the stream of the Yamuna River. In another video, a crocodile is seen swimming in the river. Farmers are afraid to go towards the fields on the banks of Khadar.
Hathnikund Barrage is located in Yamunanagar of Haryana State. On August 11, the highest level of water in this rainy season was recorded at the barrage. Five days ago, about five lakh cusecs of water was diverted from this barrage into the Yamuna River.
Due to this, the water level of the Yamuna River has increased in some areas of Baghpat, Ghaziabad and Delhi in Uttar Pradesh. Several villages in the area are affected by the floods. The floodwater is also reportedly entering the fields of farmers, destroying crops.
The administration has issued alerts in the areas of interest. The Yamuna River is flowing above the danger mark in New Delhi.
