CWG 2022 bronze medallist Divya Kakran shares certificate after AAP MLA questions if she represents Delhi

In a series of tweets, Commonwealth Games 2022 bronze medal winning wrestler Divya Kakran accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of not supporting her through her journey with any help and neither has she recieved any adequate financial assistance. She also replied to AAP MLA Suarabh Bharadwaj who said that she represents Uttar Pradesh and not Delhi.

The Indian wrestling contingent had a fantastic showing at the Commonwealth Games 2022. All 12 wrestlers who participated in the quadrennial event in Birmingham returned with medals including whopping six golds. One of the most prominent names on the list is that of Divya Kakran, who won the bronze medal in the women's 68 kg freestyle category.
However, she also cause quite a stir when, in a series of tweets, she accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of not supporting her through her journey with any help and neither has she received any adequate financial assistance.
"I thank Delhi Chief Minister from the bottom of my heart for congratulating me on my victory. I have a request. I have been living and practicing in Delhi for the last 20 years, but I neither received any prize money nor did I get any help from the state," had tweeted.
However, in a tweet, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA in Delhi, Saurabh Bharadwaj shared a clipping from a news article, which stated that Kakran represents Uttar Pradesh in the national level competitions. “The whole country is proud of you sister. But I do not remember that you play for Delhi. You have always been playing for Uttar Pradesh. But the player is of the country. You do not expect respect from Yogi Adityanath Ji. I think the Chief Minister of Delhi will listen to you," Bharadwaj wrote in the tweet.
However, Divya Kakran, in reply shared a certificate from the Wrestling Federation of India which stated that she represented Delhi in the 61st National Women's Championships. “I represented Delhi from 2011 to 2017. This is my certificate from Delhi State. If you still do not believe me, I can upload 17 Gold medal-related certificates as well," she wrote in the tweet.
It is interesting note that Divya Kakran has 17 gold medals in the Delhi State wrestling championships.
Replying to Divya Kakran's accusations the AAP had released a statement saying the the wrestler represents Uttar Paradesh and not Delhi. "Delhi government respects all sportspersons of the country and prays for their bright future. Currently, Divya Kakran plays for Uttar Pradesh. If she had played from Delhi or she had been part of any sports scheme of the government or she has applied in any such scheme, the government will surely look into it," the statement read.
