IMD predicts extremely heavy rainfall in Madhya Pradesh, issues red alert for 18 districts - Latest forecast

IMD predicts heavy rain in Madhya Pradesh

New Delhi: Heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is likely to hammer most parts of Madhya Pradesh till August 14, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday. For today, the weather office has issued a red alert for 18 districts and an orange alert for six districts.
A red alert has been issued for Neemuch, Mandsaur, Ratlam, Ujjain, Shajapur, Agar-Malwa, Dhar, Indore, Dewas, Alirajpur, Barwani, Khargone, Khandwa, Burhanpur, Betul, Harda, Hoshangabad, Seoni, and Balaghat. Jhabua, Chhindwara, Narsinghpur, Mandla, Jabalpur, and Katni are also expected to be hit by heavy rainfall as the weather office has issued an orange alert for these districts.
However, there is no red alert for any district in the state for Friday. For tomorrow, the weather office has issued an orange alert for Ratlam, Dhar, Alirajpur, Barwani, and Khargone.
In a daily weather update, the IMD on Wednesday said fairly widespread to heavy rainfall with thunderstorms is very likely over Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh from 10th-14th; Gujarat, Vidarbha and central Maharashtra from 10th -12th; Konkan and Goa from 10th-13th. Isolated very heavy rainfall likely over Konkan and Goa and central Maharashtra on 11th; Madhya Pradesh, Saurashtra and Kutch region on 11th August 2022, the forecast said.
For Maharashtra, the weather office has issued a heavy rain alert for nine districts - Ratnagiri, Satara, Raigad, Pune, Palghar, Nashik, Nagpur, Wardha, and Amravati.

As per the update, widespread to isolated heavy rainfall with thunderstorms is very likely over Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand on 11th, 13th and 14th; Odisha from 10th-14th; Arunachal Pradesh on 13th; Assam and Meghalaya on 13th and 14th and over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on 12th-14th August 2022. "Isolated very heavy rainfall also likely over Odisha on 10th & 13th, 14th," it said.
