Trichy: Helium Tank explodes in market; one dead, several injured

Chennai: A helium tank belonging to a balloon vendor has exploded in a busy market in Singarathope in Trichy. The explosion has left one dead and around 22 others injured. Initial reports suggest that the explosion was accidental and occurred due to the balloon vendor smoking too close to the cylinder.

Chennai: A helium tank belonging to a balloon vendor has exploded in a busy market in Singarathope in Trichy. The explosion has left one dead and around 22 others injured. Initial reports suggest that the explosion was accidental and occurred due to the balloon vendor smoking too close to the cylinder.
The deceased has been identified as Ravi who doesn’t appear to be a native of Trichy. The injured citizens have been admitted to the government hospital. A 13-year-old boy who was standing too close to the tank is also said to be critically injured with doctors saying his chances of survival are slim.
A case has been registered against the balloon vendor who is said to be a native of Uttar Pradesh and efforts are on to track him down. The entire accident was caught on camera by CCTV present in the locality. Citizens can be seen running in panic after they hear the explosion as well. Further investigations in the case are being carried out.
