New Delhi: After instances of hiring private automobiles were discovered, the Delhi government's Transport Department ordered municipal bodies and other entities to employ only commercial vehicles for transportation.
Only commercial or transportation vehicles were to be used for hiring, according to the directive given by Navlendra Kumar Singh, joint commissioner for operations and enforcement, in order to prevent violating the law, which would be enforced by the Transport Department's enforcement agency.
"It has been brought to our notice that in certain cases, the departments/autonomous bodies/local bodies/undertaking etc under GNCT of Delhi are hiring private/non-Transport motor vehicles instead of Transport/Commerical vehicles, which is in violation of Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and rules made thereunder," read the order issued on August 10.
In order to make it easier for the general public to obtain driving licences starting on Monday, the Delhi administration postponed the implementation of certain relaxations to the requirements that already apply to obtaining them in the nation's capital on August 9.
However, before they are implemented in the city, the administration will once more discuss the updated standards for automated driving test tracks, according to PTI sources.
The Delhi government asked the Transport Department authorities to make adjustments at several automated driving test tracks on August 8 due to an increase in test failures.
