WhatsApp is working on several updates to provide a better user interface. The Meta-owned messaging app has released "screenshot blocking" feature for view once images and videos to some iOS beta testers, reported WABetaInfo. The new update has reportedly been submitted through the TestFlight beta Program, bringing the version up to 22.21.0.71.
The feature prevents users to take a screenshot to view once images and videos. The website also shared a screenshot of the feature. "it is no longer possible to take screenshots and screen recordings to view once images and videos. People may still use a secondary mobile device to get these messages so you should always be careful when sending view once images and videos," WABetaInfo wrote.
The feature has been released only to a few iOS beta users so far. More activations are likely to take place in the coming few weeks. Screen recording to view once images and videos are blocked by default. However, when someone takes a screenshot, it is never notified to the recipient.
The "screenshot blocking" feature was released to some android beta users on Monday. The new feature is only limited to view once images and videos. Users can take screenshots of conversations even if they contain some disappearing messages. Users also cannot forward, export, save, and view once images and videos. However, they can take a photo by using a secondary mobile device.
Recently, the instant messaging app also released the ability to create polls for some iOS beta users. With this feature, users should be able to see an entry point within the chat actions and they can assign a title and up to 12 options to a poll and it can be viewed by all group participants.
