Kolkata: BMC reports 18 new Covid cases; state health department colour mapping zones to track trends
The Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) area in Kolkata has reported 18 new Covid-19 cases in the past seven days. Despite a slow rise in cases, the health department officials in West Bengal are cautious and are keeping a close watch on the trends across the state.

Kolkata: Following the trend of the Covid case numbers in the state, the Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) area in Kolkata reported 18 new Covid cases in the last week. West Bengal is seeing a sluggish but steady rise in the number of Covid-19 cases.
Most of these cases are said to be from Duttabad and places near VIP Road, including Arjunpur and Baguiati. In Salt Lake, cases have come up from residential areas like BD, FE, and BF. In Rajarhat, more than 12 cases in areas like Narayanpur and Gopalpur have been reported.
Banibrata Banerjee, the mayor-in-council member in charge of health (BMC), said they keeping a close watch on developments. He added that there were around 30 active cases of Covid-19 last week out of which, 12 had recovered. The number of positive cases on Wednesday stood at 18.
To notice the trends of the infection across the state, the state health department has started colour mapping zones from where Covid-19 cases are being reported. Both Salt Lake and Rajarhat are pink zones. The areas with less than five Covid cases in a week are being termed black zones, those with one or zero cases are called green zones, and localities with 10 or more cases fall under the pink zone.
