Independence Day 2022: Kolkata metro reduces number of trains, alters timings; Check details, other Metro updates

The Kolkata Metro Railway has announced a new schedule with altered train timings for today. The number of metros to be operational has also been reduced to ensure better management in view of Independence Day. Normal services on the Delhi metro, and Chennai metro will follow Holiday schedule.

Kolkata: The Kolkata Metro has announced a new operations schedule for Independence Day 2022. Based on the new schedule, the number of metro stations operational on 15 August has been reduced while the opening and closing hours for the metro have been altered for adequate management.
An announcement from Kolkata Metro Railway said-
-188 metros will run up and down from Dakshineshwar-Kavi Subhash. On other days, 288 Metro trains service is available along this route.
The first metro from Dum Dum to Kavi Subhash would be accessible on the morning of August 15 at 6:50 am. The Metro will also leave from Dakshineshwar at the same time.
The first metro usually leaves Dakshineswar at seven in the morning for Kavi Subhash.
The final metro departs from Dum Dum towards Kavi Subhash at 9:40 pm Dum Dum Metro would also leave Kavi Subhash at this time.
The final metro departs Kabi Subhash for Dakshineshwar at 9:30 p.m.
-On Sealdah's Sector Five of the East-West Metro: Today, 90 trains rather than 100 (which run usually) will run in this section.
The first metro departs Sealdah in the direction of Sector Five at 6:55 am in the morning. Usually, the first metro from Sector Five to Sealdah departs at 7 am.
Meanwhile, the last metro from Sealdah to Sector 5 which usually departs at 9:35 am will depart 5 minutes late at 9:40 pm today.
Several other changes have also been announced by metro rail services of other cities.
Delhi Metro: Delhi Metro services will operate as per schedule on August 15, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) tweeted on Friday. However, there won’t be any parking facilities available at the metro stations between Sunday morning (6 am, August 14) till Monday afternoon (August 15, 2 pm) due to the strict security arrangements in place for Independence Day.
Bengaluru Metro: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced fixed fares from the Lalbagh Metro station for commuters. The Lalbagh Botanical Garden's Independence Day flower show has been seeing swelling crowds and the police have been urging visitors to use public transport to avoid traffic congestion.
The Namma Metro has announced a paper ticket system which is going to cost a fixed ₹30 to all metro stations from Lalbagh Metro station.
Chennai Metro: Holiday Timetable will be followed today on account of Independence Day. Metro Trains will run in 10 mins headway without peak hour throughout the service hours from 5 am to 11 pm on August 15.
The passengers are requested to plan their journeys accordingly. First and last train timings shall be the same as current weekday train timings of service hours (5 am to 11 pm).
