Almost a year later, a new development has taken place in the IIT JEE 2021 Paper Leak Case. As per latest input, the alleged mastermind behind the JEE Exam 2021 paper leak has been detained at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, IGI New Delhi and is now being questioned by the CBI.
Sources have told Times Now that the individual in question is a Russian National. This national was detained at IGI Airport New Delhi by the Bureau of Immigration due to the Lookout circular, LOC that had been issued against their name.
This Russian National, Mikhail Shargin is allegedly the mastermind behind the IIT JEE Paper leak that took place in September 2021. The individual was detained at New Delhi upon arrival from Almaty, Kazakhstan.
During the investigations, it was revealed that a few foreign nationals were involved in the paper leak caused for the JEE Main 2021 Examination. The detained individual is allegedly the one who tampered with the iLeon Software, which is the software used to conduct the Joint Entrance Examination.
Shargin was also alleged to have helped out the others accused in the case to hack the computer systems of certain candidates and lock them out of the system during the examination. Due to this, a 'Look Out Circular’ was issued and today, the concerned individual has been detained.
JEE Exam Paper Leak Case took place in 2021. CBI had carried out searches at 20 locations across the country at various cities, including Delhi-NCR, Pune, Jamshedpur and more. As per a PTI report, last year, CBI had registered a case on September 1, 2021 against a private company and its employees based on their involvement in the paper leak.
Last year, two directors from a private institution based in Noida and five others had been arrested in connection with the alleged manipulation of the JEE Main examination 2021. As per a statement, it has also been alleged that the accused in the case obtained the Class 10th and 12th marksheets of the students all across the country.
The data obtained from their marksheets was used to collect a heavy lump sum of Rs. 12 to 15 lakhs, once the candidates secured their admissions. Investigations related to the IIT JEE paper leak 2021 are currently ongoing.
