Dumka (Jharkhand): The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) chief will visit Jharkhand’s Dumka on Monday and meet the family of the 14-year-old tribal girl who was found hanging from a tree here on Friday.
Meanwhile, a medical team found out that the murdered girl was pregnant, a News18 report said.
The Jharkhand police on Saturday had said that the girl was allegedly sexually exploited by a man under the pretext of marriage. The accused identified as Arman Ansari has been arrested. He works as a construction worker, the superintendent of police Ambar Lakra told PTI. He has been charged under IPC sections 376 (rape), 302 (murder) and provisions of the SC/ST Act and POCSO Act, Lakra said.
The girl was living with her aunt in Dumka, where she got into a relationship with Ansari. The teenager was killed when she asked the accused to marry her, reports said.
Meanwhile, Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren expresseddeep anguish over the incident .“I am deeply saddened by the incident in Dumka. The accused has been arrested. I have directed the Dumka Police to take strict legal steps to ensure justice. May God give peace to the departed daughter and strength to the bereaved family to bear this critical time,” he tweeted.
