Do you know Bobby Deol used to spend the entire day rehearsing for the dance track Duniya Haseeno Ka Mela from his hit film Gupt? Well, as Gupt completes 25 years today (July 5), Bobby Deol shared some insights from the making of the movie. The film starred Bobby Deol along with Kajol and Manisha Koirala. Rajiv Rai's directorial hit the theatres two-and-a-half decades ago and people still remember the film for its climax, and of course its music.
At that point in time, Bobby Deol dancing in all-black attire in a disco on Duniya Haseeno Ka Mela became quite a rage.
Going down memory lane, Bobby revealed that he would spend entire day rehearsing for the number and he used to practice so much that his pants used to get drenched in sweat.
Speaking with Bollywood Hungama, the actor shared, "It’s one of my big hits, and Viju Shah’s best album till date. I wish I could have worked with Rajiv Rai more after that film. But for some reasons, things made him leave his country and go away. I remember when I was shooting that song ‘Duniya Haseeno Ka Mela,’ it was set up in Mehboob studio only. I remember dancing with Chinni Prakash ji, and meri pata hai kya haalat hoti thi unn dino, main itni rehearsal karta tha ki meri pant bheeng jaati thi sweat se, jaise kisi ne paani phenka ho (I used to rehearse so much for that song that my pants used to be drenched in sweat by the time I was done for the day, like someone had thrown some water over it). I just wanted to do my best I could. It was a great song."
" I remember even the way Rajiv promoted the film, the day the songs were supposed to release, the whole day the channels were only playing Gupt’s soundtrack," he added.
Bobby also remembered that he broke his leg on the last day of his debut film, Barsaat and Gupt was scheduled immediately after that. He said, "I had an accident on the former’s last day, so Chinni and Rekha Prakash Ji made those hand movements of mine, which became popular as ‘Bobby Deol’s style’!”
The film features Manisha Koirala, Raj Babbar, Om Puri, Kulbhusan Khrabanda, Paresh Rawal, Dalip Tahil, and Prem Chopra among others.
For those who don't know, Kajol, who played the role of a villian in the film, became the first female actress to bag the Filmfare Awards for the Best Performance in Negative Role.
