Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor, son of legendary actor Rishi Kapoor, made his debut with ace filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 2007 film Saawariya. But not many know that the actor had collaborated with SLB for another project before his first film. He assisted Bhansali on Amitabh Bachchan and Rani Mukerji's 2005 movie Black.
Ranbir had once spoken about his experience on the sets of the film and how it helped him evolve in life. At an event, he was addressing his uncle's Randhir Kapoor's 'the Raj Kapoor era of films is over' remark when he shared how he was treated by Bhansali.
“Not saying that my generation of filmmakers are only running behind the commercial aspect… When I assisted Mr (Sanjay Leela) Bhansali (on Black), he used to really treat me as an assistant director. I used to be kneeling down for hours, he used to hit us, he used to abuse us… that only hardens you and prepares you for the world,” he reportedly said.
Today, Ranbir is one of the finest actors in the Hindi film industry. The actor is currently backing in the success of his last release Brahmastra: Part One - Shiva. Ayan Mukerji's mythological adventure epic also featured his wife Alia Bhatt, megastar Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna and others.
Before Brahmastra, junior RK was seen in period drama Shamshera along with Sanjay Dutt. The film failed to impress the audience and critics and miserably tanked at the box office.
Up next, he will be seen in Animal with Rashmika Mandanna and Anil Kapoor. Ranbir also has Luv Ranjan's untitled next in the pipeline.
