Hyderabad: In its effort to enhance the commuters’ experience, the L&T Metro Rail Limited has come up with the idea of a first-of-its-kind ‘Metro Bazar’ in Hyderabad. The plan is to set up a flea market (bazar) inside the metro stations from 11 am to 9 pm for passengers to browse and shop.
The first edition of this Bazar was organised at the Ameerpet metro station on Wednesday, June 15. The flea market had 14 stalls laden with products ranging from hand-made body and skin-care items to tie-dye sarees and more. All the items featured were from women entrepreneurs.
The Women Envision Council for Entrepreneurship (WomENvision), a Section-8 company working towards empowering women entrepreneurs, has collaborated with the metro rail for this initiative.
This Metro Bazar will be open at the Ameerpet metro station for the next 14 days, followed by one at Punjagutta, MGBS, and other metro stations respectively.
Additional DGP, Women Safety Wing, Swathi Lakra who launched the event applauded the effort and said that such initiatives nurture and provide opportunities to women who want to do something in their lives.
Hyderabad Metro Rail has provided the space to WomENvision at a no-cost basis for this arrangement. Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) Managing Director, NVS Reddy, MD & CEO, L&TMRHL, KVB Reddy, and others were also a part of the launch event.
