Drishyam was an absolute hit, even though it was a remake of Malayalam film, headlined by Mohanlal. Ever since, there's only been so much intrigue surrounding the sequel, and the numbers for Drishyam 2 are self-explanatory of the fact that it has worked. The movie, features Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Akshaye Khanna, among others, in leading roles and the box office collection is looking good.

DRISHYAM 2 BOX OFFICE COLLECTION

The day 1 and day 2 numbers were good enough, and in fact, while there was solid growth on the second day, the movie opened at 2022's second biggest opening for a Hindi film so far. It has, in fact, managed to beat Ram Setu, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, among others. With Rs 15.38 Cr on day 1, it followed those numbers up by an almost 50% growth with Rs 21.59 Cr on day 2.
And now, if prediction numbers and advance booking patterns are anything to go by, Drishyam 2 has earned Rs 27 Crores on Sunday, therefore beating the opening weekend numbers for popular releases Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Gangubai Kathiawadi, among others from this year. While the Kartik Aaryan starrer raked in Rs 54 Cr, Alia Bhatt's film did around Rs 39 Cr. As for Ajay's film, it has collected Rs 27.17 cr, making the weekend total a whopping Rs 64.14 Cr.

That's quite the solid number for a remake, especially given the past patterns!

2022 BOX OFFICE NUMBERS AND REMAKES

While Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 did well, a film like Vikram Vedha, and even the sequel Ek Villain Returns, failed to do well at the box office. High hopes lay on both the films, but they couldn't keep up, but now, Drishyam 2 doing well, surely puts things into perspective in its own sense - for the makers, and even the viewers, at that.
The movie is expected to cross the R 100 Cr mark by this Wednesday!
