After a gap of four years, Ranbir Kapoor is all geared up to mesmerize the audience once again. The superstar will be seen as a quintessential Hindi film hero in his forthcoming release, Shamshera, in which he is starring alongside Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor.
Currently busy with the promotions of the Karan Malhotra directorial, Ranbir recently spoke about the advice his late father Rishi Kapoor gave him when he decided to enter Bollywood.
In a special Q&A video shared by Yash Raj Films, Ranbir, who is himself going to be a father very soon, revealed that Rishi had told him, “Don’t take success to your head and failure to your heart. What I’ve really understood now after so many years in the industry is do films that appeal to a larger audience.”
Rishi, regarded as a legend of Hindi cinema, passed away on April 30, 2020, after a two-year-long battle with cancer.
Meanwhile, Ranbir’s wife Alia Bhatt took to her Instagram on Monday, June 27, to announce that they are expecting their first child. The power couple had tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in April this year.
Speaking of Shamshera, Ranbir will be seen in a double role in the film for the very first time. He will portray father Shamshera as well as son Balli in the action entertainer.
Sharing his excitement about essaying two characters in the larger-than-life film, Ranbir had said, “Shamshera is one of those films that when the narration got over, I knew for a fact that I had to be a part of the film. It’s amazing that I’m playing two characters in one film! Both are very different and unique but their heart and their head is very similar. The transition from Shamshera to Balli was very interesting for me as an actor.”
Set in the 1800s in the fictitious city of Kaza, Shamshera is slated to hit the screens on July 22.
