Maharashtra: ICG makes daring attempt to rescue 10 fishermen amidst rough sea and inclement weather [WATCH]

Mumbai: In a daring attempt, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on Wednesday rescued at least 10 fishermen from a boat which was stranded off Maharashtra coast. The mission was carried out amidst rough sea and inclement weather.
The ICG confirmed that one of its teams rescued 10 fishermen from a fishing boat stranded at sea off Murud Janjira, Maharashtra coast this morning. The boat had engine failure and crew were in distress amidst rough sea and inclement weather, it added.
Yesterday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a 'red alert' for north Konkan, north central Maharashtra, east and west Vidarbha, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall in the regions. Relief is likely after August 12, it said.
Various parts of Maharashtra have been witnessing heavy showers since Sunday and the IMD said the heavy rainfall is likely to continue over the state.
The IMD has also issued an 'orange alert' for Marathwada, south central Maharashtra and south Konkan.
It said parts of the state could witness heavy to very heavy rainfall rainfall, while isolated places could also receive extremely heavy downpour.
The Indian Coast Guard has carried out number of rescue missions in past one month where fishermen were stranded due to bad weather.
