Kutch: Taking strong objection to Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) for demolishing the 'illegally constructed' residence of Javed Ahmed, the alleged mastermind of the June 10 violence in Prayagraj, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi took aim at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, saying Yogi Adityanath has become the Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court.
Addressing a rally in Gujarat's Kutch area, Owaisi questioned CM Adityanath on the demolition of the house of activist and former Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student Afreen Fatima in Prayagraj, and wondered whether the Uttar Pradesh CM has become the CJ of Allahabad HC and will he convict anyone and demolish their houses.
Notably, Ahmad is Fatima's father.
The bulldozer action was initiated after protests against the controversial remarks on Prophet Muhammad made by now-suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma rocked Prayagraj and some other areas of Uttar Pradesh on June 10.
The Prayagraj Development Authority has claimed that the building map of Ahmad's house did npt had any approval from the authority.
Bulldozers have now a symbol of Adityanath's crackdown on anti-social elements who indulge in rioting, violence and arson.
The Atala area was the 'epicentre' of the demonstrations and Uttar Pradesh Police have accused of Javed giving the call for the protests that eventually turned violent.
Police arrested him on the charges of the Gangster Act.
On June 10, protestors burnt few motorcycles, carts and also set ablaze a police vehicle. Police had used tear gas and lathis to disperse the mob and maintain the law and order situation.
In the aftermath of June 10 protest, PDA began identification of illegal constructions in Atala and sent notices to the owners that illegal properties will be razed.
Meanwhile, the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) on June 13 staged a demonstration on the JNU campus against the demolition of the house of Fatima.
