The O Sajna controversy surrounding renowned singers Falguni Pathak and Neha Kakkar continues to surface on the internet, with Neha sharing posts and photos referencing the song while Falguni gave her views on the remake in a recent interview.
With the situation escalating with each passing day, music composer AR Rahman was recently asked to share his thoughts on the same which provided a fresh angle to the matter.
A highly prolific singer, songwriter, and record producer, the Jai Ho singer sat down for an interview where he talked in brief about the remake culture prevailing in the Hindi film industry and how it has deteriorated over the years.
He said, "The more I see, the more it is distorted. The intention of the composer gets distorted. People say, ‘I am reimagining.’ Who are you to re-imagine? I am also very careful about taking someone else’s work. You have to be respectful and I think it is a grey area, we need to sort it out." he told India Today.
For the unversed, the tiff came to light when Neha Kakkar released a remake of the iconic 1999 song Maine Payal Hai Chhankai called O Sajna. The original song was sung by dandiya queen Falguni Pathak.
Soon after the song came out, netizens showed their disapproval for the song as they claimed to have ruined the beauty of the original song. Afterward, the famous Gujarati singer appeared in an interview where she stated that her initial reaction wasn't good and was about to puke after listening to the remix version.
Meanwhile, Fans are praising AR Rahman for his outstanding composition in Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan with its five-song album proving to be a hit among the listeners. Some of the top tracks from the Ponniyin Selvan album include Ponni Nadhi, Devaralan Aatam, and Alaikadal. The first installment of the movie will be released on September 30 while the second part is scheduled to be released next year.
