PM's visit to Mumbai

Besides taking part in the 'Dwishatabdi Mahotsav' of the 'Mumbai Samachar', a newspaper published continuously for 200 years, Prime Minister Modi will unveil the Gallery of Revolutionaries in Mumbai on Tuesday.
The PM will inaugurate the Jal Bhushan Building and Gallery of Revolutionaries at the Raj Bhavan in south Mumbai. Since 1885, the Jal Bhushan has been Maharashtra's governor's official residence. After the building's lifespan had ended, it was demolished and in August 2019, President Ram Nath Kovind laid the foundation stone for the new building. In the newly-constructed structure, all the distinctive features of the old building have been preserved, a statement said.
In 2016, the-then Maharashtra Governor Vidyasagar Rao discovered a bunker inside the Raj Bhavan. It was once used as a secret storage area for arms and ammunition by the British. In 2019, the bunker was renovated. A unique museum commemorating the contribution of freedom fighters and revolutionaries in Maharashtra has been developed in the bunker as the Gallery of Revolutionaries.
Prime Minister Modi will attend the Mumbai Samachar's 200th-anniversary celebrations at the Bandra Kurla Complex later in the day.
'Mumbai Samachar' (then Bombay Samachar) was first printed as a weekly on July 1, 1822, by Fardunjee Marzbanji, a Parsi scholar. In 1832, it became a daily. The Gujarati newspaper has been published continuously for 200 years. It was also announced that a postal stamp would be released on the occasion to commemorate this achievement.
