Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh have been compared to Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan, one of Bollywood's most iconic on-screen couples, by filmmaker Karan Johar. According to Karan, the on-screen chemistry between Ranveer and Alia is comparable to that of Kajol and Shah Rukh, who he chose to star in his first film, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.
While Kajol and Shah Rukh have collaborated on a number of movies, including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Baazigar, and My Name is Khan, Alia and Ranveer have collaborated on Zoya Akhtar's 2019 film Gully Boy.
The filmmaker recently spoke with Rajeev Masand and remarked, "When Ranveer and Alia face the camera, you will see that chemistry because they’re buddies, they’re friends. That friendship results in chemistry."
Rocky Aur Rani ki Prem Kahani, which is set to be KJo's next, stars the Gully Boy stars. After Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Karan Johar returns to directing with the movie, which also has Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi in significant roles (2016). The date of release is set for February 10, 2023.
KJo was also questioned about which actor, Ranveer Singh or Ranbir Kapoor, he preferred. I've enjoyed working with both of the talented gentlemen, he replied. Ranbir and Karan Johar previously collaborated on Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. In reference to Alia Bhatt, he said, “I’ve been accused about being partial to her. I’ve been accused of always looking out for her. But I feel that with such incredible talent like that, I feel privileged.”
In 2012, KJo gave Alia her big screen debut in Student Of The Year, co starring Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan.
