With the Deepti Sharma-Charlotte Dean incident at Lord's during an ODI between the Indian and England women's team fresh in the minds of cricket lovers; there was almost another non-striker's end run-out for cricket fans to talk about during the ongoing third T20I of the three-match T20I series between India and South Africa at the Holkar Stadium in Indore.
In the 16th over of South Africa's innings; Indian pacer Deepak Chahar showed extraordinary game awareness and was quick to notice the fact that Tristan Stubbs was backing up too far and outside his crease on the non-striker's end. Chahar did a decoy run-out but ultimately did not take the stumps off and left Stubbs with a warning. There were smiles all around the ground after the incident and even skipper Rohit Sharma saw the lighter side of things.

Earlier this year during India's ODI series against Zimbabwe, Chahar had similarly given Zimbabwe opener Innocent Kaia a reprieve in the third ODI of the series. On that instance also, he had given a warning and not taken the stumps off after noticing the batter was not inside his crease.
Deepti Sharma's clever run-out of Dean last month has divided the cricket fraternity with strong opinions coming from both sides. However, it's worth remembering the action is completely legal and had Chahar decided to take the stump off; Stubbs' stay at the crease would have come to an end.
Talking about the match after India decided to bowl first after winning the toss; South Africa have put a massive total of 227 on the board. Rilee Rossouw scored his maiden T20I ton while Quinton de Kock played a quick-fire knock of 68 in 43 balls. The Indian bowling unit had another day to forget as bowlers apart from Ravichandran Ashwin were smashed for an economy rate of more than 10.
