Gwalior: Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh while denouncing the violence perpetrated by the Popular Front of India (PFI) in Kerala, dissed the RSS and VHP as well, calling them 'ek hi thali ke chatte batte.' "Action should be taken against all those who spread hatred and violence. Why action is not being taken against RSS & Vishva Hindu Parishad? They (PFI-RSS) are 'Ek hi thaali ke chatte-batte'," he said while talking to reporters in Gwalior.
The PFI on Friday held dawn to dusk 'harthal' in all over Kerala, during which, 171 people were arrested and 368 were detained in connection with multiple incidents of violence across the state. The 'harthal' was held in response to the nationwide raids conducted by the NIA on Thursday which resulted in the arrest of more than 100 activists of the outfit.
During the 'harthal' in Kerala, 171 people were arrested and 368 were detained in connection with multiple incidents of violence across the state. As per reports, 71 KSRCTC buses were damaged and 12 officials were injured during various incidents. Most buses were damaged in stone pelting and the Corporation is estimated to have incurred a loss of Rs 30 lakh.
Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan said that 'violence during PFI's harthal in the state was pre-meditated, and culprits will not be spared.' Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan also condemned violence and said, "What happened yesterday was chaos. Anyone committing violence disrespects the rule of law and democracy. There have been many complaints against this institution (PFI) in the past," he said while talking to reporters in Guwahati.
"They want to give way to their political issue by resorting to violence. Government should also take action against such people," he added.
