Apple expected to unveil iPhone 14 on Sept 7, with sales starting on Sept 16; Gurman

September is right around the corner and September means new iPhones are finally on their way. According to Mark Gurman at Bloomberg, Apple is looking at holding the iPhone 14 launch event on Wednesday, Sept 7.

"The event will be Wednesday because Monday is Labor Day. That leaves Tuesday for a “travel day.” The event will likely have the same setup as WWDC: an online, streamed video that will be played in person at Apple," Gurman tweeted.

Apart from the iPhone 14, Apple is expected to unveil the new Apple Watch Series 8, a new Watch SE, and the rumored Apple Watch Pro. "The company is preparing for a large retail launch on Friday, Sept. 16, which follows the typical iPhone release pattern," adds Gurman.

However, that's not all, "I am told there will be new Macs later this year in addition to the new entry-level iPad and iPad Pro — likely coming in October alongside MacOS Ventura and iPadOS 16. iOS 16 and WatchOS 9 will hit in September," says Gurman.

This year, Apple is expected to launch a non-pro-max iPhone 14 variant with a large '6.7-inch' display, for the first time. Apple is also expected to get rid of the 'notch', but in typical Apple style, only the iPhone 14 Pro models will be getting the new 'Pill-shaped' camera and Face-ID sensor cutouts. Moreover to differentiate the Pro and the non-Pro models even further, the company is expected to retain the A15 bionic SoC from the iPhone 13 on the new iPhone 14 non-pro editions, while if you are looking for newer Apple Silicone then only the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models are the ones that are going to get it.

The iPhone 14 Pro variants will also be the ones getting a new 48-megapixel sensor - a first for any iPhone yet. Gurman states Apple plans to bring out new software along with the new devices in September, iOS 16 and watchOS 9 will launch alongside the new devices.
