Common University Entrance Test, CUET 2022 is now under the radar of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin. After the wave of TN NEET ban last year, CM Stalin has now expressed his concerns over the "regressive" nature of the entrance exam. Asking for PM Modi's intervention, Tamil Nadu CM has written a letter hoping for some resolution.
In Tamil Nadu, the NEET ban bill was passed in the assembly some time back, but the final approval has still not been granted for implementation. As the disagreement with NEET continues, CM Stalin has now called CUET an "undesirable" rule, one that must be withdrawn by PM Modi.
In a letter to PM Modi, CM Stalin writes, "There is no doubt that this CUET, similar to NEET will side-line the diverse school education systems across the country, grossly undermine the relevance of overall development-oriented long-form learning in schools and make students rely upon coaching centres for improving their entrance examination scores."
In the same letter, CM Stalin also "reiterates" that "any entrance exam that is based on NCERT syllabus will not provide an equal opportunity to all students who have studied in varied State Board syllabi across the country."
By referring to this, CM Stalin wished to drew PM's attention to the matter that an "NCERT-based entrance exam would place a deserving majority in a disadvantageous position in securing admissions to Central Universities." A copy of the letter has been shared below for reference.
