Texas: A shocking video has surfaced online showing a group of four Indian-American women being racially attacked and assaulted by a woman in Texas in the US.
In the video, circulated widely on social media, a Mexican-American woman can be seen attacking and racially abusing the Indian-American women and asking them to "go back to India".
The woman, identified as Esmeralda Upton of Plano, has been arrested by police on a charge of "assault causing bodily injury and a charge of terroristic threats", a report said.
The incident took place on Wednesday night in a parking lot in Dallas, Texas.
"I hate you Indians. All these Indians come to America because they want a better life. They obviously are not leading a great life in India," the woman, identified as Esmeralda Upton of Plano, can be heard saying in the video.
The video that has gone viral on social media has drawn immense backlash from the Indian-American community across the United States.
The woman, who says she was born in the United States and is a Mexican-American, can be heard making racist slurs against the Indian women and assaulting them.
“Everywhere I go, you Indians are everywhere… If life was so great in India, why you are here," she is seen screaming in the viral video while abusing repeatedly.
The person who uploaded the video wrote that "this incident occurred in Dallas, Texas after my mom and her three friends went to dinner".
In the widely-circulated video, the group of Indian-American women can be heard asking the attacker why she came to talk to the group and why she hates Indians.
To this, the attacker replied, “Because of the way you speak…I am a Mexican-American. I was born here. Were you born here?...You come here from India and want everything free."
Rani Banerjee, one of the Indian-American women, wrote on Facebook that she is in Dallas for 29 years but never felt so “humiliated, threatened and scared for my life”.
"Dinner with friends ended with a frightening experience. As we left Sixty Vines, Plano and headed towards our cars, an angry, drunk woman came at us with hateful racial slurs and even physically attacked us. We called 911 and thankfully the cops arrived in minutes," Rani posted on Facebook.
