Prabhas headlined Adipurush has been facing heavy backlash over its VFX and depiction of the mythological figures ever since its teaser was unveiled on October 2. While director Om Raut has said that a few things have been perceived in a wrong manner, dialogue writer Manoj Muntashir has defended Saif Ali Khan’s look as Ravana.
Netizens are calling out the makers of Adipurush for making Saif’s Ravana look like a ‘Mughal’. Addressing the criticism coming the film’s way, Manoj said that people are judging it by the one-minute teaser.
In an exclusive interview with Times Now, Manoj said, “Which Alauddin Khilji wears Rudraksha and applies Tilak on his forehead. I ain't talking about the full movie but you can see that Raavan is wearing Rudraksha, and Tilak, and talking about the beard it is a creative visualization of Om Raut. Earlier, Moustache was used for Villains' identity. Ravan in Adipurush has all characteristics.”
He said, “People are watching from one angle and judging the movie by the one-minute teaser. And I proudly say that I can never be a part of the narrative that depicts Ram wrongly even if I can protest against such things happening.”
Meanwhile, Om Raut has been served a notice over the ‘Islamisation of Ramayana'. The Sarva Brahmin Mahasabha, in their notice, has asked the filmmaker to remove the controversial scenes and tender a public apology within seven days or face legal action.
Besides Prabhas and Saif, Adipurush also features Kriti Sanon. The film is slated to release on January 12, 2023, in multiple languages - Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada.
