Tata Tiago EV India Launch Tomorrow: Price expectation

Tata Motors is gearing up for the launch announcement of the new Tiago EV in the Indian market tomorrow. The company has also teased the upcoming electric car a number of times in the recent past over its social media platforms. The new EV will be positioned as the entry-level EV in the company's portfolio and will be positioned below the existing Nexon EV.

Despite being the entry-level EV in the company's portfolio, Tata Tiago EV will benefit from several notable features such as regen braking, cruise control, driving modes, and premium leatherette seats. Needless to say, these are only a few recently teased features, while the feature list will receive more features, the details of which will be revealed tomorrow.

As the name suggests, the Tiago EV will come based on the regular Tiago ICE, however, it is likely to underpin the electric technology from the Tigor EV. The latter features the company's patent Ziptron powertrain featuring a 26 kWh lithium-ion battery supplying power to an electric motor which delivers 75 hp of power and 170 Nm of torque. The company claims a full charge range of 306 km from this system. And the batteries on the car can be charged using a powerful 25 kW DC fast charger in under 1 hour and 5 minutes. The upcoming Tiago EV might come equipped with this powertrain.

On the outside, it will feature the same design and styling as seen on its ICE counterpart, however, there will be minor aesthetic tweaks in the form of a closed front grille, no exhaust pipes etc.

The Tiago EV is expected to demand a premium over the regular model. Expect it to have a starting price somewhere around Rs 10 lakh and extend up to Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom).
