Swann said that having worked in TV, there's a desperate need for Kohli to do well.
Kohli after a disastrous few months with the bat which started in the IPL and he endured till the England tour came back strongly following a 6-week break. Kohli returned refreshed and rejuvenated and slammed a couple of fifties and a maiden hundred in the format in the Asia Cup and also played a well-compiled knock against Australia in the series decider as well.
Speaking to Sports18, Swann said, “India need Virat Kohli to fire. I’ve worked for the TV side and I know there is a desperate need for Virat Kohli to do well, as it was with MS Dhoni. If those guys don’t do well, TV ratings go down and people get disillusioned. I want Virat Kohli to do well, when I used to play against India, I never minded Virat Kohli’s batting.
Swann heaped praise on Kohli saying he is one of the most stylish batters in the world. While people have enjoyed his batting watching it from the stands, Swann who has witnessed it from close quarters being his opponent said that it is a different feeling altogether.
"I liked watching him bat up close, trust me if you think you think he looks good while batting from the stands and on TV, you should stand at a backward point or cover, it’s gorgeous to watch him bat," Swann added.
Indian team will hope that Kohli can continue his run in the ongoing series against South Africa and in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
