Karnataka: Youth poses as food delivery boy to sell drugs; held with 1.2 kg ganja, four mobile phones, two bikes

Karnataka: Impersonating as a food delivery boy, a drug peddler was allegedly supplying narcotics in Udupi including other adjoining areas. The drug peddler was arrested on September 17 in Karnataka’s Udupi district, the police said. Meanwhile, two other youths, Shankar (22) and Anjan Baiju (21) from Kerala were also held in connection with the case.
The prime accused has been identified as Devi Prasad (23). According to the police, Prasad, a resident of Udupi allegedly procured drugs from a person named Ravi Shankar and supplied it to customers by pretending to be a food delivery boy, The Indian Express reported.
Acting on a tip-off, the prime accused was apprehended while he was waiting to hand over drugs to a customer. The police seized 1.2 kg of ganja, worth Rs 30,000, from him, besides four mobile phones and two bikes.
According to the police, Prasad befriended Shankar in Palakkad and soon made a deal with him as per which the latter brought marijuana from Kerala via train and handed it over to Prasad for sale in Karnataka’s Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.
During the investigation, the police figured out on Manipal, where there are several educational institutions, as the main location to sell the drugs, the police said.
The investigating officers who were closely monitoring the flow of drugs into Manipal and Udupi were able to detect a pattern of drugs supply which led them to the accused.
