Chandigarh: In yet another major development, Punjab police revealed that the investigation into the murder of renowned singer Sidhu Moose Wala has thrown light on the huge crime network of the chief suspect, gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Police said that Bishnoi's network goes all the way to Pakistan.
According to those involved in the investigation, the absconding terrorist Harvinder Rinda, who is believed to be operating over the border, had previously recruited Bishnoi's men to murder a top Shiv Sena politician. Bishnoi and Rinda had met while being detained in the same Punjab jail, The Indian Express reported.
The joint investigation involving police from Maharashtra, Mohali, and Delhi also point to Bishoi's men being involved in the April 5 murder of builder Sanjay Biyani in Nanded.
The gangster's men have also been involved in an RPG strike on the state police intelligence headquarters in Mohali on May 10, and the August 3 murder of gangster Rana Kandowalia in Amritsar that took place last year.
According to sources of The Indian Express, Rinda is a native of Nanded in Maharashtra, who was imprisoned in Punjab in 2016-17. Rinda met Bishnoi and the two became good friends.
So far, an investigation has shown that Rinda urged them to seek extortion money from a famous builder, Sanjay Biyani, but he refused, so they planned to murder him. On April 5, Biyani (53), was shot numerous times outside his Nanded bungalow by two bike-borne assailants who used two weapons at point blank range.
