Filmmaker Kamaleshwar Mukhopadhyay, who is known for his immense contribution to the world of cinema, was detained by Kolkata Police in an unfortunate turn of events.
Yes, you read that right. Mukhopadhyaya, along with a few workers were detained while they were staging a protest near the Rashbehari crossing. It all started after an alleged attack on a Left party book stall, according to reports.
The well-known filmmaker and others were first taken to Lalbazar and were later released in the evening. This incident did not go down well with social media users and Tollywood film fraternity members as they stood up in support of Mukhopadhyay.
Yes, the incident kicked up a social media storm and netizens were not happy with how the Kolkata police detained the filmmakers for merely staging a protest for the bookstall.

According to a report in TOI, Rajya Sabha MP Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya later claimed that they had gathered at Rashbehari crossing to protest the attack on a bookstall and the alleged closing of it by TMC supporters.
Ranjan further alleged that some people owing allegiance to the ruling Trinamool Congress reportedly attacked them again during the protest on Monday.
