Rajasthan: 25-year-old married man ends life after shooting minor girl with whom he had an affair

Rajasthan: A 25-year-old man allegedly shot a minor girl with whom he was in a relationship and then ended his life after he shot at himself in the Dausa district of Rajasthan, police said.

Police said, the girl, aged around 17 has received a critical bullet injury and was admitted to SMS hospital in Jaipur for treatment.

Police said that the man, who got married last month to another woman, called the minor girl to an agriculture farm at around 4 am on Friday. After she reached the farm, the man allegedly opened fire on her and fled the spot, reported PTI.

The man then reached his house and called a family member of the girl over the phone and said that she was dead and her body was lying on the farm. Later, he went to the roof of his house and shot himself in the head, police added.

In the meantime, the girl’s family immediately rushed to the farm and found her unconscious and injured. The family took her home instead of a hospital even as she was profusely bleeding. The family did not inform anyone about the incident and kept her at home for a few hours. However, they took her to a hospital only after her health condition deteriorated, police said as PTI reported.

Assistant sub-inspector of Mahuwa police station, Ghanshyam said that the family of the minor girl did not take her to the hospital fearing that their reputation would be at stake if the locals came to know about the love affair with the girl.

“However, when her condition worsened, they took her to a local hospital from where she was referred to Jaipur,” added Ghanshyam.

On the other hand, the man who shot himself was also rushed to the local hospital by his family but he died while undergoing treatment. The body was handed over to family members after postmortem. It was only after the postmortem of the man that the family of the girl took her to the hospital, Ghanshyam further informed.

The ASI further said preliminary investigation revealed that there was a love affair between the man and the girl. However, it is not clear why the man shot the girl and committed suicide.

“The girl is under treatment in Jaipur in a critical condition and she is not fit to give her statement,” he said.
