Vivek Agnihotri's The Kashmir Files has remained in the headlines ever since it hit the silver screens. Be it the storyline or the impeccable performances of the lead actors, the film has managed to grab eyeballs for different reasons. After setting the box office on fire, the film starring Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty and Darshan Kumar premiered on a leading OTT platform on Friday (May 13).
Interestingly, The Kashmir Files premiered in Hindi, Kannada and Indian sign language on ZEE5, creating a world record. The streaming platform and the movie created history as TKF became the first film to release in Indian sign language on OTT.
Vivek Agnihotri, while interacting with the media at an event, opened up about his film setting a new world record for releasing in Indian sign language. The director said that he felt as if the film released in the theatres again.
Vivek expressed his excitement over the audience's reaction to the OTT release of The Kashmir Files. He said that he was seeing such a craze for the OTT release of a film for the first time. The Tashkent Files director said that people, who watched The Kashmir Files in cinema halls, are also viewing the film on OTT.
"Kal hum logo ne deaf logo ke liye film Indian sign language me release karke new world record banaya. Subah se main iske rehearsals me busy tha, dhyan nhi diya. Jaise hi maine phone khola, aap yakeen nhi kar saket, log firse iske reviews likhne lage hai. 100s of reviews hai (We released the film for the deaf in sign language, setting a new record. I was busy with rehearsals since the morning and couldn't keep a tab. The moment I opened my phone, you won't believe it, I saw people writing reviews for the film again. There are hundreds of reviews)," Vivek Agnihotri said.
"Aisa lag raha jaise film firse release hogyi hai. Maine pheli baar aise dekha hai ki kisi film kis iss level pe OTT pe demand hai. Vo log bhi dekh rahe hai jo phele dekh chuke hai (It feels as if the film has been released again. I have seen such a craze for the OTT release of a film for the first time. People who watched the movie in theatres are watching it again)," he added.
The Kashmir Files, which is based on the exodus of the Kashmiri Pandits in the valley during then insurgency, is available for streaming ZEE5.
