Star pacer Jasprit Bumrah will not be seen in action for India during the upcoming edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The 28-year-old pacer has been ruled out of the upcoming megaevent that will take place in Australia from October 16 to November 13. Bumrah was suffering from a back injury which forced him to miss the Asia Cup T20 tournament last month in the United Arab Emirates, and then, after making a comeback against Australia during the home series, Bumrah again complained about the back issue, after which he was ruled out of the T20I series against South Africa, and then, in a big blow to India’s chances, the pacer was ruled out of the upcoming T20 World Cup as well.
Bumrah has been India’s best bowler in all three formats of the game for a long time now. He is an out-and-out wicket-taker and makes it difficult for opposition players to score runs against him. But India will miss his services in Australia this year. Australia is ideally seen as a perfect destination for fast-bowlers, but the Indian star won’t be there.
After getting ruled out of the T20 World Cup, Bumrah is facing a lot of criticism from fans on social media, who have lashed out at him for not giving importance to India matches. The fact that Bumrah ended up playing 14 matches for his Indian Premier League franchise, Mumbai Indians, in IPL 2022 and played only a total of 15 matches across formats for India with two international breaks and still got injured, has not gone down too well with some fans.
And to give a befitting reply to all those critics, the right-arm pacer took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a story in which he shared a picture of Winston Churchill’s quote that read: "You will never reach your destination if you stop and throw stones at every dog that barks."

The pacer seems to be unhappy with the flak that he is getting online after he was ruled out of the megaevent at the start of this week. The reports of Bumrah missing the T20 World Cup first surfaced last week after he missed the first T20I against South Africa, but the development was confirmed only on Monday when the BCCI, via a press note, confirmed that Bumrah would not take part in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
After getting ruled out of the mega event Down Under, Bumrah had posted a tweet in which he wrote, "I am gutted that I won’t be a part of the T20 World Cup this time, but thankful for the wishes, care and support I’ve received from my loved ones. As I recover, I’ll be cheering on the team through their campaign in Australia."
Team India left for Australia on Thursday (October 6) to take part in this year’s T20 World Cup. The Rohit Sharma-led side will open its campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on October 23 at Melbourne Cricket Ground and, besides them, will also play the likes of South Africa and Bangladesh, along with two other qualifying teams in the Super 12 stage.
