Pune police invokes rioting charges against five including teen in jailor’s son murder case

The police have levelled charges of rioting and unlawful assembly under Sections 143, 145, 147, 148 and 149 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) along with Section 4 (25) of the Arms Act for possession of sharp weapons against all the accused. The son of Amravati jailor was murdered on May 24 last week, allegedly over a suspected love affair.

Pune: The Pune police on Monday, invoked the charges of rioting against five people, including a woman and a 15-year-old teenager, in the case of the murder of the son of a jailor in the Hadapsar area of the city.
The son of Amravati jailor was murdered near a gliding centre in the Hadapsar area of Pune on May 24 last week, allegedly over a suspected love affair, reported TOI.
The local court extended the custodial remand till June 3 for four of the five accused, including the woman and has sent the juvenile 15-year-old accused to a city-based observation home.
The police have levelled charges of rioting and unlawful assembly under Sections 143, 145, 147, 148 and 149 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) along with Section 4 (25) of the Arms Act for possession of sharp weapons against all the accused.
It was found after the investigation that all the accused had invited the victim Girdhar on the pretext of meeting him and then attacked him with sharp weapons out of the blue.
The suspects were identified as Alaudin Shaikh, his wife Varsha alias Mahek Armaan Shaikh, Pradeep Ankush Chavan, and Akshay Devkate. All of these people are aged less than 22 years old.
The police also recovered the blood-stained clothes of the suspects carrying the blood of the victim. The police also got hold of their cellphones which were sold by them after committing the crime and the gold chain belonging to the victim. The investigation is being conducted at Badlapur in the Thane district.
