Tuesday's avalanche on Uttarakhand's Danda-2 summit has claimed 9 lives so far. Authorities launched air rescue efforts on Tuesday evening to rescue stranded residents in the Draupadi ka Danda region of Uttarkashi, but ran into difficulties because of bad weather.Three Air Force helicopters have departed to assist, while three Indian Army helicopters are actively involved in the rescue efforts on site. Fourteen injured persons were transported back to the 2nd Battalion ITBP at Uttarkashi's Matli helipad by one of the two choppers that are still in operation. 29 persons are still missing as of right now.
