The convicts in the Blikis Bano case have filed a response in the Supreme Court, and they are justifying the remission by citing rules and saying that the Supreme Court judgment has said that third parties can't meddle in criminal matters. The convicts have justified the premature release in front of the court by saying that the 1992 remission rule did not prohibit the release of gang rape or murder convicts and was made applicable by the Gujarat government as per the directions of the Supreme Court. After their release, the rapists and murderers were greeted by female family members who garlanded them and placed tilaks on their foreheads. Following that, a troubling rumor circulated that the rapists belonged to the virtuous caste and were not guilty of the crime.
