Hero Vida V1 Plus launched at Rs 1.45 lakh, V1 Pro launched at Rs 1.59 lakh

Hero Motocorp's EV subsidiary Vida has launched its debut electric scooter, the Vida V1, in the Indian market. It is available in two variants - V1 Plus and V1 Pro. There are three colour options available with both the V1 Pro and V1 Plus - Matte White, Matte Sports Red and Gloss Black, while the V1 Pro is also available in Abrax Orange.

Hero Motocorp might have been late to the party, but they have finally joined the EV bandwagon through their sister brand, Vida. The Hero Vida V1 electric scooter is their debut product and it is available in two variants - Vida V1 Plus and Vida V1 Pro. The former is priced at Rs 1.45 lakh, the latter has an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.59 lakh.

Hero Vida V1: Battery, Range and Performance

The entry-level Hero Vida V1 Plus electric scooter is powered by a smaller 3.34 kWh Li-ion battery that has a claimed IDC range of 143 km. It can do 0-40 km/hr in 3.4 seconds. The Hero Vida V1 Pro is powered by a slightly bigger 3.94 kWh removable battery pack for it has a claimed IDC range of 165 km and can do 0-60 km/hr in 3.2 seconds. Both scooters have a limited top speed of 80 km/hr and both get fast charging capabilities at 1.2 km/min.

The batteries in both the Vida V1 Pro and Plus are paired to a 6 kW capacity PMSM motor.
The scooter can also ride without a drop in acceleration with 18-degree gradeability, i.e. the angle of an average bridge in India. There's also a standard five years or 50,000-kilometre warranty available with the scooter, but the batteries get an additional three-year or 30,000-kilometre warranty.

Both Hero Vida V1 Pro and Plus scooter gets a telescopic fork and mono-shock suspension set-up. Braking duties are handled by a single disc brake for the front, and drum brakes for the rear.

As for their features, both scooters equip the same 7-inch touchscreen system that also doubles up as a smartphone panel and gets Over the Air updates. There's also cruise control, a two-way throttle, keyless control, follow me home, find my scooter alert etc. Along with that, there are also three ride modes - Eco, Ride and Sports, along with a limp mode that drives at 10 km/hr for up to 8 km in case battery level drops below pre-defined limit to drive.
Also for the first time in the industry, the Vida V1 scooters will feature a unique Custom ride mode that has a 100+ combination of regen settings that focuses on increasing the range of the scooters.

The Hero Vida scooters feature the design philosophies - "Smart, Strong and Stylish". The front features a unique all-LED headlight design with a peculiar hexagonal shape. . As sophisticated the front apron looks, the side panels have an equally simple outlook. The under-seat storage system has been cleverly divided into two segments.

Vida V1 also comes equipped with geo-fencing, speed and distance limits and real time ride tracking. Vida further claims that the structural design of the scooter has been tested to withstand dusty environment, potholes and uneven roads heavy rains, water logged roads and high temperatures.
Bookings for the Vida V1 scooters will commence from 10th October onwards in a phase-wise manner starting with Delhi, Jaipur and Bengaluru. Customers in these cities can book their Vida V1 scooter for just a token amount of Rs 2,499. Deliveries will start from the second week of December.
In its price range, the newly launched Vida V1 electric scooters will directly rival the likes of the Ola S1, Ather 450X, TVS iQube, and the Bajaj Chetak electric scooter.
