Royal Enfield Himalayan brand has become relatively popular among adventure purists in India, and globally. And why not? Launched almost half a decade back, the Himalayan came out as one of the first offerings that set standards in the entry-level adventure touring segment in the Indian market. An early entry made it more convenient for Royal Enfield to grip younger adventure enthusiasts and gave it an edge over everyone else that wasn't making an off-road/adventure bike. Five years down the line, Royal Enfield is at it again, and this time the company is developing a more mature version of the Himalayan in the form of Himalayan 450 which has been spotted in its clearest image yet - arriving from the UK.
The upcoming Himalayan 450 will be based on an all-new platform which is being developed for riders with legs half the way into the mud. Fresh details emerging from the latest spy image suggest how serious things are going to get with the new Himalayan 450. The rally-ride setup on the motorcycle features high ground clearance anywhere between 220 mm to 240 mm, high seat height, adventure-spec wire-spoke wheels (most likely tubeless), oil-cooling and much more.
Needless to add, the new oil-cooled 450 cc single-cylinder engine will make more power than the existing 411 cc engine. We also bet for this powertrain to be significantly more relaxed and less buzzy, in comparison to the current 411 cc unit that tends to stress up comparatively easily when given the beans.
Judging by the developments made on the spied prototype, it isn't very far away from making it into production. However, hold your horses as the bike is most likely to go on sale in India and elsewhere only by early 2023. Placed above the existing model, it may also replace the same but details are to be confirmed only in the later stage.
